Park Avenue Homes / 2024. Syracuse, NY
Park Avenue Homes redefines what it means to build new homes in Syracuse. Making use of the city's new zoning code, these are two single-unit attached homes, one of which has an accessory dwelling unit. Bike parking replaces the need for off-street car parking. In front of the accessory dwelling unit sits a small garden for reflection. These homes were designed with historic neighborhood context, walkable urbanism, and the creation of semi-private outdoor spaces facing the street in mind. Additionally, these homes address the issue of how to create comfortable living space within a small, simple footprint, setting a precedent for future homes in Syracuse. Ultimately, this project aims to take one small step towards Syracuse becoming a walkable city that embraces its history once more.
