The Park Nouveau / 2025. Syracuse, NY
The Park Nouveau is an imagined mixed-use urban apartment building at 215 Park Ave in Syracuse, NY. This is a work in progress, drawing upon inspiration from the early High Victorian Gothic works of Joseph Lyman Silsbee (The Syracuse Savings Bank and the White Memorial Building), 32 Joralemon St in Brooklyn, the Basilica Palladiana, various works in the Art Nouveau style, and others. Ornament references the natural beauty of Central New York, the area's historical salt industry, the local prominence of and love for crows, the Haudenosaunee, the Park Avenue neighborhood's history as a hub of lantern manufacturing, the layout of Leavenworth Park, and the Syracuse city flag's design and colors.
